Ironline Command: stop losing to your own supply lines

May 12, 2026 · Markus Vogel

Ironline Command does a poor job explaining its most important system, so let me save you the losses I ate. Supply lines are the real game here, and I kept winning fights while slowly starving my own army into uselessness.

Every squad draws supply from your depots, and that line can be physically cut if the enemy gets between your units and the source. The AI knows this. Twice I pushed aggressively, got flanked, and watched my forward units stop responding properly because they'd run dry.

The fix is boring but effective: never advance faster than you can protect your rear. Leave a cheap unit guarding depot routes, and build forward depots as you take ground rather than overextending in one big push. Terrain helps too — parking on high ground near a supply route is worth more than it sounds.

Once I treated supply as the priority instead of an afterthought, the campaign opened right up. Skirmish mode is still where the game shines, but you won't enjoy it until the logistics click.
