Three party builds that carried me through Emberfall Chronicles
The first few hours of Emberfall Chronicles let you win by mashing attack, and that lulled me into bad habits. Around the swamp chapter the enemies start exploiting positioning and elemental weaknesses, and suddenly my lazy party composition fell apart. Here's what actually worked once I started paying attention.
Build one — the frontline wall. I stuck my tankiest hero dead center, surrounded by two melee damage dealers, with a healer tucked in the back. This clumped my fragile characters out of enemy reach and let the tank soak the splash damage that was quietly killing me before.
Build two — the elemental combo. If you lean into one element across three characters, the synergy bonuses stack into something genuinely nasty. I ran a full fire party for a stretch and melted bosses that had wrecked my balanced team minutes earlier.
Build three — the hit-and-retreat. For the optional dungeons with high-damage enemies, I used a mobile party and focused on killing one target per turn before repositioning. Slower, but it kept my healer alive, which is the whole ballgame late on.
Whatever you run, invest in crafting early. The gear you break down for materials feeds into upgrades that matter far more than raw levels by the back half of the game.
